Hi what if you get nothing from the test light you show in the starter relay?
Which pin? 30, 87, 86 or 85? Did you have the ignition turned on when you tested it?
@@MiracleMAX pin 85 I think the negative one, yes ignition on

And here I thought engines were mostly symmetrical. Good tip identifying banks!

So how did you fix the oil fault code?
I mentioned in the video that it had an earth fault. ruclips.net/video/f85Uf6P0m54/видео.html
these days i lean towards jap made , a few of my mates who own their own shops tell me these days brands that were once excellent , now have failure rates theyre not willing to put up with . they never mentioned goss though. motorcraft, vdo etc are what they mentioned saying they switched to tridon etc.
Tie rod is fine, just knit picking wear & tear, never take my car to mechanics, they just pick a car to pieces, safety is one thing, drawing up a list of work that isn't necessary is another.
Glen you are certainly welcome to your opinion. Personally, I pride myself in my reputation. I tell customers the reason for my suggestions. For example, if the tie rod boots are split, this will create wear of the ball joint located inside as grease is expelled and dirt enters the joint. Once this happens, the wheel alignment will be incorrect, creating excess tyre wear. This then becomes a safety issue as well as wasted money replacing tyres that could have lasted longer. This is preventive maintenance. Obviously this will not happen overnight, so giving the customer an idea of a timeframe is helpful. Notice in the video I stated that the split boot was not a safety issue at that point. But I agree, some mechanics will try and make a money grab at whatever they can find. Thanks for your comment.
Excellent video. You always do fantastic Commodore videos.
Thanks, keep watching, there are plenty more on the way!
My experience is to always use Bosch O2 sensors on Commodores. There is also a tech bulletin for a fault with the o2 harness on VE where water from the AC drain works its way along the harness into the post cat bank 2 sensor plug causing heater circuit issues. The fix is to unwrap the harness tape and separate out the o2 wires from the trans loom and then make the break out earlier in the harness. Rewrap the harness. Reroute the harness to run along the transmission a bit more further back. This puts it away from the drain. This is also relative to 06/07 VZ as well.
I have heard that Bosch is the best choice. Will keep that in mind for next time. Good information. Do you know the TSB number? Similar situation with the VZ etc where the oil from the oil sensor unit has capillary action dragging the oil into the PCM.....stay tuned for a case study on that one.
@@MiracleMAX No I don’t know the number but was reading it just a few days ago.
@@MiracleMAX Oh! That’s where I found it! It was buried in the Holden Barina workshop manual. I might be able to find it again and let you know.
@@FuManchu5ltr That'd be great - thanks 👍
@@MiracleMAX OK. After looking for ages, found it. TL0109-6C01 However it wasn’t VE or VZ as I thought. It’s VT-VX Gen3. However I have previously had the same issue on a VE and a VZ without knowing this bulletin existed. So assume this Tech/Sevice Bulletin is handy as a guide. Re: Water into the plug from AC.

Thank you 😉
Thx MM. Very thorough as usual.
Thanks Nigel for your comment 😉
Perfect timing. I am doing this exact fault finding today don't know what brand of O2 sensors are in but like this instance, these were recently replaced too. But I will give these parts the benefit of the doubt because the terminals were pushed into the housings as well. Also, on the right poz1 post O2 sensor there were two severed wires within the sleeve. One on the heater and the other on the sense wire. I can't see how this has happened as there is no obvious damage on the sleeve. Looks like they have been cut with side cutters but must have been squashed and cut that way. The engine has apparently been replaced recently too. Me thinks a Weeties packet mechanic backyarder did an engine swap and crushed bits n pieces inducing problems. The truth may have been told to me but not the whole truth. Gunna take it for a good flog up the road tomorrow with me G-Scan2 and see if it all works as it should and with no codes. I've often found getting good reliable info/ feedback from the owners that play a little to be almost impossible. They don't like to admit to playing with stuff they don't understand. Like I say to them "A little knowledge can be dangerous" and leave it at that for their own interpretation.
You are totally correct. The customer can be your best friend or worst enemy. They can send you on a wild goose chase giving only half the information or half truths. Makes our job twice as hard. Thanks for sharing your comment.
Personally I'll never knowingly use a Goss product again. Too much of a delay and lack of support from Goss to be able to guarantee decent product quality checks.
I haven't had any issues with the product. I deal with a good local parts supplier. Your experience may be different.
@@MiracleMAX yeah, I seemed to either be an exception or just fussy with how they reacted too slow out of specification. I ended up getting a great deal on genuine Bosch ones for my car and have not looked back since.

Hey mate, I've watched this a couple of times. I've replaced my EGR, clean the sensors, clean my intake manifold. Mechanic took it off my hands did the egr valve replacement and check engine light came straight on. I can clear it but keeps coming back
What fault code do you have? Have all the tests been done that are shown in the video? What are the MAF readings when the EGR actuates? Is this the same engine?
@@MiracleMAX p2413 done everything and it's not going
@@user-fh5so6rw4e Can you clear the fault code, remove the EGR, activate it with the scan tool and see if it is moving?
@MiracleMAX yep it moves. I don't understand it at all. It's been to the mechanic and he is out of ideas. I put the old dc motor onto the new valve and a codes been thrown I've had P4213 and P0405. Wow thank you. Knew it was the oil. Mechanics charged me for sparo plugs and battery but no change in the engine and engine light
So was your engine oil overfull?
@@MiracleMAX yes a little more then it should have been. I did mention this to him but nothing was done. Really disappointing.
@@followeroftheway555 A little more oil will not necessarily create a problem. In this case, it was almost double the quantity of the required amount. Did they tell you what the fault code was creating the check engine light? Was it the check engine light that was on your dash?
@@MiracleMAX I believe it was more then a little. Because itz leaking out of the engine? They didn't say anything about the engine light. Didn't even tell me what the problem was. Either then didn't diagnose the problem correctly and had me lay for spark plugs. Then my battery wasn't working and they jump start it and then went home came back and they said I need. New battery. What year is this? My mother just passed away out of the blue unfortunately and she had, that i now have, a garage kept 1989 Mazda 626 with only 71,000 miles on it. I want to do oil change for my ranger.Must I drain the engine oil then remove the oil filter or fill in the new oil then change the oil filter.
Either way is fine. Whatever takes the shortest time. I usually drain the oil & while it is draining, I replace the filter. The main preparation is to have your filter, oil, new drain plug washer & funnel ready.
Very well explained and done Max. They made these a little easier on later models. Having done a 2001 9c Beetle cab filter, I know how difficult the earlier ones were to do, hence an overlooked item on services. Cheers.

It would be unusual for DPF related faults to be connected to glow plugs as they only work during cold conditions on start up. It would be best to get a quality scan tool for fault codes as well as live data.
@MiracleMAX I know someone who had a real good quality scan tool and he plugged it in but no dpf issues came up, the light was off at the time but has came on again and I'm panicking ha love the car and not in a postion for it to die, is there a separate scan tool for a dpf then or should a normal one bring it up?
